DIY Coffee SPA

Do you know that coffee grounds still contain a lot of oil and nutritional benefits even after making a great pot or cup of coffee?

We want to motivate you to utilize the advantages of your spent coffee in innovative ways because we love coffee and we love recycling.

It’s really easy to create your own Coffee SPA at home. You will need:

  • Spent coffee
  • a medium to large disposable tea bag
  • a plastic tie

Tips & Steps:

  1. Gather spent coffee grounds until you have enough in a container.  You can leave the container in the fridge while collecting it every day. The fridge absorbs the moisture in the coffee and leaving the grounds dry, while the coffee absorbs the bad scents in the fridge.  Win-win situation.
  2. Place the coffee grounds in a tea bag that you can get online or at most dollar stores. Your bathwater will have more oil and aroma the more coffee grounds you add. You can secure the bag with a plastic tie after adding the grounds.
  3. Add your coffee spa bag as the hot water for the tub is being filled. To let the coffee out, squeeze and jiggle the bag.  You’ll notice that the water’s colour is changing from clear to light brown and that there is an oily film on top of the water.
  4. To increase the aroma and elegance, you can add some flower paddles or essential oils.

Remember that coffee will leave a stain in your tub, but that any tub cleaning will quickly get rid of it.

Coffee’s natural oil hydrates and moisturizes your skin while caffeine gives you cellular energy. What could be more satisfying than treating yourself to a hot, fragrant bath to start the new year?
