Love NEVER FAILS
As followers of Christ, we are commissioned to
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons, they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink anything deadly, it will not harm them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:15–18)

When we pray for healing, we can sometimes fall into the mindset that illness or suffering is a result of sin or divine punishment. However, Jesus challenges this view in the story of the man born blind in John’s Gospel. In John 9, Jesus clearly states that neither the man nor his parents sinned. Rather, his blindness occurred “so that the works of God might be displayed in him.” This truth directly opposes the concept of karma, which suggests that suffering is always the result of personal wrongdoing.
We must be careful not to make assumptions when we encounter someone who is suffering. Instead, we should be attentive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Even when sin may be a factor and repentance is necessary, our response should never be condemnation. Like Jesus, we are called to speak truth with deep love, compassion, and grace. Jesus ministered healing not through shame, but through mercy, kindness, and divine authority.
As Paul reminds us in
1 Corinthians 13:8, “Love never fails.”
True healing and transformation happen in the presence of genuine, Christlike love.
