It is often seen as a comforting passage, but no one longs to be in the circumstances that make those words relevant. It\u2019s not about avoiding the waters or fires \u2014 it\u2019s about being preserved through them.<\/p><p id=\"ember2931\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Twelve years ago, I walked through a valley I never wanted to know \u2014 the loss of my beloved husband. For me, it felt more like walking through the shadow of death than through fire or flood. And yet, God carried me.<\/p><p id=\"ember2932\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Though this particular passage wasn\u2019t the verse He gave me during that time, its truth still rings deeply today. I believe He brought it to mind now to remind me \u2014 and maybe to remind you too \u2014 that He was there. That His loving presence never left. That even in the darkest valleys or fiercest storms, His grace held us steady.<\/p><p id=\"ember2933\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">But more than that \u2014 I sense He\u2019s also applauding us.
